Shilajit and my Story
Hi. My name is Don Maher. I’m the owner and founder of Javajit, the world’s first 100% organic, Arabica coffee fortified with shilajit, a mineral rich resin sourced from high elevations of the Himalayan mountains.
As someone into health and fitness, I have always looked for supplements to better my health, and shilajit has been a part my life for quite sometime. My shilajit story started 7 years ago when I was with my wife Linda, and my friend Roger at farmer’s market in Calabasas. We went to buy these really fresh eggs people were raving about. While walking through the market, I stopped at a booth that was selling herbs from India. I sparked up a conversation with a guy who there and he was explaining to me the various items they sold, one of which was shilajit. Our conversation turned solely to the shilajit as he seemed most excited about it. He talked for about 5 minutes on how great of a natural supplement it was, and how he had been taking it for 20 years, and had never gotten sick.
He said it had numerous health benefits, including elevated brain cognition, and had been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, and that I should try it. This is before nootropics were popular and who doesn’t need some good brain cognition. It was basically a brown resin that came in a small, tin jar. It came with a little spoon used to scoop it out. He told me to mix it with hot water in the morning and drink it like a tea. Well, $50.00 and two days later, I had my first shilajit drink. It had a subtle, bitter taste, but was good when mixed with lemon.
Flash forward seven years, I have been taking shilajit consistently, and also have never been sick, other than a mild case of covid with no symptoms other than tiredness. I cycle off for a week every couple of months, as I do most supplements. I normally mix it with water, lemon, and organic sea salt, or with coffee. The one day I had an epiphany! After years of taking shilajit, I feel as alert and energetic as I ever have in my entire life. Im 57 as of writing this, work out 4-5 times a week, and am stronger than I have ever been.
